The Maryland Stem Cell Research Act of 2006 was established by the Governor and the Maryland General Assembly during the 2006 legislative session and created the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund. This fund is continued through an appropriation in Governor Martin O’Malley’s annual budget.  The purpose of the Fund is to promote state-funded stem cell research and cures through grants and loans to public and private entities in the State.

To date, over $91.2 million and 258 research grants have been funded in the first six years and our next year of the programs with a budget of $10.4 million are available.

MSCRF’s5th Annual Maryland Stem Cell Research Symposium” takes place at the DoubleTree Hotel in Annapolis Maryland on October 4-5, 2012 The Symposium is the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund premier event that delivers comprehensive scientific talks, poster presentations, Ethics discussions and networking time, enabling cell therapy basic research and technologies from the lab to pre-clinical and to commercialization.
